HertfordshireExtended to 7 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms

The job
Two 25 kW boilers, 50 kW in total, and previous quotes suggesting another boiler to bring the capacity up to 65 kW. Our heat loss survey came to 24.5 kW.
The result
One 32 kW Vaillant ecoTEC plus, range rated down to 24.5 kW once the loft was insulated, with a 400 litre cylinder and underfloor heating in the extension. The client has since reported cost savings and the best hot water ever, despite having more bathrooms.

The job
A highly insulated envelope, substantial lower-ground construction and thermal mass, with a calculated design heat loss of approximately 4.2 kW.
The design
A Vaillant aroTHERM pro 5 kW, targeting approximately 35°C heating-water flow at winter design conditions, with predominantly open-loop underfloor heating and weather-compensated control. After commissioning, energy performance and room response will be measured.

Kirk Ferguson of NuRenewables Heating is the most knowledgeable heating engineer/plumber I have ever used and performed an absolutely superb job reworking how my entire heating and hot water system was configured for a large extension. This included installing a new boiler, powertank (to improve the water pressure), hot water cylinder, 3 bathrooms and a kitchen amongst other works.

Kirk is a delight to have in the house, is super tidy, but most of all is an expert in his field and applies a scientific approach to his installations to maximise the efficiency for the homeowner.

NuRenewables Heating Ltd have been outstanding from the very start. Every single time I've called them out, they've gone above and beyond what I'd expect — always punctual, polite, and incredibly helpful. The quality of their workmanship is excellent — everything is done thoroughly and to a very high standard.

What really sets them apart is their knowledge and expertise. They've always taken the time to explain things clearly, give honest, sensible advice, and never try to push unnecessary work on me. I really trust their recommendations.

On top of that, the pricing is exceptional value for money — fair, transparent, and worth every penny. And what truly impresses me most is the ongoing support and service after the job is finished. They don't just disappear — they're there whenever I need them, ready to help with any questions or follow-up.

If you're looking for a reliable, knowledgeable, and trustworthy heating company, look no further. I'm so glad I found them — highly recommended! Thank you for such wonderful service every time.

Questions

Questions about heating for your project

When should I get in touch?

As early as you can. The sooner the heating is designed, the easier it is to plan underfloor heating, pipe runs and space for a cylinder into the build.

Do you work on extensions and refurbishments, or only new builds?

All three. We provide heating solutions for new builds, extensions and major refurbishments.

Should a new build have a heat pump?

It's often a good fit for a new, well-insulated home, but it depends on the building and your plans. We explain the available options and recommend solutions based on your home's requirements, rather than simply selling equipment. See air source heat pumps.

Can you fit underfloor heating?

Yes. We design and install underfloor heating, and radiators can work alongside it where it can't go.
