Is it right for you?

Will a heat pump work in your home?

A good fit if

  • There's space outside for the outdoor unit, on the ground or on a wall, where air can flow freely around it
  • There's room inside for a hot water cylinder. Homes with a combi boiler usually need one
  • You're renovating or extending, so pipework and underfloor heating can be planned in

Probably not the right fit if

  • There's nowhere sensible for the outdoor unit, or no room at all for a hot water cylinder
  • You want the lowest upfront price for a like-for-like swap. A new gas boiler usually costs less to fit
  • Your home needs major insulation work first and you'd rather not do it yet

Our aim is to help you make an informed decision, with realistic expectations.

Cost

What affects the cost of a heat pump

How we price

Every situation is different, including distance and other factors, so we don't list prices. If you'd like a figure for your own home, request a heat pump estimate. It takes about 2 minutes.

Quotations follow a property assessment and technical survey.

What moves the price

  • Your home's heat loss. A bigger or leakier home needs a bigger heat pump
  • Radiators. How many rooms need a bigger one to stay warm at a low flow temperature
  • Hot water. Whether you need a new cylinder, and where it can go
  • Pipework. Whether the existing pipes can carry enough heat, or some need upsizing
  • The outdoor unit. Where it can go, and how far it is from the cylinder

What's included

  • Technical surveys
  • Heating design
  • Equipment selection
  • Installation
  • Commissioning
  • System handover
  • Aftercare
  • Manufacturer warranties and any additional service arrangements, explained within the quotation

Bushey, HertfordshireA chalet bungalow

The job
The original system design allowed a 45°C flow temperature at the design outside temperature of -2.3°C, with a heat loss of 10.8 kW.
The result
A 12 kW Vaillant aroTHERM plus. Our approach enabled a maximum weather compensated flow temperature of 40°C, and a SCOP of over 4.0 so far, with updates to follow.

NuRenewables Heating Ltd have been outstanding from the very start. Every single time I've called them out, they've gone above and beyond what I'd expect — always punctual, polite, and incredibly helpful. The quality of their workmanship is excellent — everything is done thoroughly and to a very high standard.

What really sets them apart is their knowledge and expertise. They've always taken the time to explain things clearly, give honest, sensible advice, and never try to push unnecessary work on me. I really trust their recommendations.

On top of that, the pricing is exceptional value for money — fair, transparent, and worth every penny. And what truly impresses me most is the ongoing support and service after the job is finished. They don't just disappear — they're there whenever I need them, ready to help with any questions or follow-up.

Questions

Heat pump questions, answered

Will a heat pump heat my home properly?

It's one of the questions customers ask most. Rather than relying on assumptions, we calculate your home's heating requirement, assess your existing radiators or underfloor heating, and consider the hydraulic performance of the proposed system. Our aim is to help you make an informed decision, with realistic expectations.

What will it cost to run?

Running costs depend on how efficiently the system runs, and that comes down to design, flow temperature and set-up. Our design places a strong emphasis on efficient system operation. Our aim is to help you make an informed decision, with realistic expectations. Our 10 commandments of heat pump usage

Are heat pumps noisy?

Where the outdoor unit goes makes a real difference to how it sounds, for you and your neighbours. We address these through careful assessment, transparent explanations and detailed heating system design.

Will I need new radiators?

Not always. We assess your existing radiators or underfloor heating as part of the design, and recommend solutions based on your home's requirements.

Can I have underfloor heating with a heat pump?

Yes, and the two work well together: underfloor heating can warm a room with cooler water than a radiator needs. More on underfloor heating.

Does a heat pump need servicing?

Most manufacturers recommend a yearly service, and many make it a condition of the warranty. We service Vaillant and Panasonic air source heat pumps. See heat pump servicing.

Which heat pump brands do you install?

Our preferred brands are Vaillant, Panasonic, Viessmann and Grant. That isn't knocking any other brands: there are some good options out there. We stick with the brands we're trained, qualified and experienced with, and where we know the customer service. Fewer brands mean more focus, and a better understanding of the units.

How long does an installation take?

Usually between 2 and 6 days, depending on things like the pipe routing (for example underground pipes), replacing or moving the cylinder, and building a base for the outdoor unit. Our partnership with Heat Geek means we can offer a ZeroDisrupt installation, which is more like a typical boiler installation: usually 2 to 3 days.
